There are many reasons to know and love actor Alan Cumming. He's a consummate theatre performer, he plays Eli on The Good Wife, and he describes himself in his Twitter bio as a "Scottish elf trapped inside a middle-aged man's body."
But now, there's one more reason: he's a lover and interpreter of sappy songs. The actor is touring a stage show and performing some of his favourite covers, along with some pretty amazing stories.
Today he joins Shad to discuss a new album born of his passion: Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs: Live at the Cafe Carlyle.
It's full of warmth and very personal renditions of sentimental material from theatre and pop.
