Three men, lost in the Arctic with only a small knife. What happens next?
Three men in Nunavut went missing for eight days on the Arctic tundra. The men were on a 500-km snowmobile trip when they were disoriented by a snow storm. Luckily, this thriller has a happy ending. (They didn't even cannibalise each other, which is always a plus.)
One of the three adventurers, Pauloosie Keyootak, an MLA in the territorial legislature, helped to save their lives armed with only with a small knife. We quizzed our Because News panelists on what Keytootak did with that knife and our comedians fought to the death with their guesses.
Rightfully understanding Keyootak as the hero of our time, comedian Brandon Hackett assumed the hunter reenacted the famous Star Wars scene where Han Solo guts a tauntaun (a sort of lizard-camel creature for all you non-fans) and shoves Luke inside for warmth.
"I'm a stars wars fan, I think he cut open some animal and was like 'get inside boys!'"
Leslie Seiler took a more practical approach to survival tactics. "He made a tiny deck of playing cards, because boredom is the real killer."
Tom Howell came through with the right answer. "He built an igloo." After the first igloo was damaged, Keyootak had to make a second with his knife, so he really is our very own McGyver.
