Windsor man, 50, charged with attempted murder after woman hit with vehicle
Incident happened Monday on Malden Road, police say
A 50-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was hit with a vehicle earlier this week, Windsor police say.
On Monday, a 48-year-old woman reported to LaSalle Police that a man had deliberately driven his pickup truck toward her at a natural area on Malden Road near the E.C. Row Expressway, Windsor police said in a news release on Friday.
The woman told police she tried to jump out of the way of the speeding truck, but was hit by the vehicle's side mirror. The victim sustained non-life-threatening physical injuries, police said.
LaSalle Police initiated an investigation and contacted the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit to investigate further. Through their investigation, it was determined the suspect had been harassing the victim since October, police say.
On Monday, officers arrested the man at a home on St. Patrick's Avenue. He has been charged with:
- Attempted murder.
- Assault with a weapon.
- Criminal harassment.
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
- Uttering death threats.
- Mischief over $5,000.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and investigators are urging anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage around the time of the incident to come forward.
