A Windsor police officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries following a drug investigation at Seminole and Pillette in East Windsor Wednesday afternoon.

According to Windsor police, officers with the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Emergency Services Unit were acting on an ongoing case.

Just before 2 p.m. police say they were attempting to apprehend an adult male in his 20s at the Circle K convenience store at the corner.

But in the process, one of the male officers suffered an injury to his arm.

Police wouldn't say if a weapon was involved in the altercation.

The officer was taken to hospital for treatment, but his injuries are considered minor.

Police say the suspect was unhurt and is currently in custody.

"Our officers are here to make sure that the public stay safe and always conducting their investigations in the most professional way. We have about 12 officers or more that were involved in this investigation," said Const. Bianca Jackson.

The incident occurred at the same location as the fatal shooting of Sr. Const. John Atkinson May 5, 2006, also during a drug investigation.
