The city has made sandbags available for residents in at-risk areas but, he said, right now all anyone can do is watch.
"If it comes up another foot, we're in trouble," he said.
"If it starts to recede, we're going to luck out, but it's a wait-and-see."
Canfield said he's not aware of any critical facilities or infrastructure in Kenora that's at risk, should water levels rise.
However, emergency measures personnel are on standby.
