OPP investigation underway at Pete's Dam near Temiskaming Shores

OPP are asking the public to stay away from an area of Pete's Dam Road near Temiskaming Shores as they continue an investigation. They say police divers are on the scene and the city's mayor confirms that two people are missing.

Ontario Provincial Police are asking the public to stay away from an area of Pete's Dam Road near Temiskaming Shores as they continue an investigation.

Police say several officers and members of the underwater search and recovery unit are on the scene.

Temiskaming Shores mayor Jeff Laferriere told CBC that two individuals are missing, but that the search continues and he says everyone is hoping for a positive outcome.

Police said they were first called to the area around 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

They said there is no threat to public safety.
