2 charged with manslaughter in death of a child in Hearst, Ont. in 2022

The OPP say they have charged two people, a man and a woman, in connection with the death of a seven-year-old child in a northern Ontario community more than two years ago.

The OPP say they have charged two people, a man and a woman,in connection with the death of a seven-year-old child in a northern Ontario community more than two years ago.

Police say on July 1, 2022, they were called to assist emergency medical services in an incident in a townhouse complex in Hearst, Ont., about 90 kilometres west of Kapuskasing.

A seven-year-old had suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, but died of those injuries on July 16, 2022. 

This week, as a result of the investigation, a 25-year old woman and a 32-year old man, both from Hearst, have been charged with manslaughter and "failing to provide the necessaries of life."
