1 dead, 1 hospitalized after head-on crash on Highway 11

One person is dead and another has been hospitalized following a head-on collision on Highway 11 in northern Ontario.

One person is dead and another has been hospitalized following a head-on collision on Highway 11 in northern Ontario.

James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says officers are  investigating the crash, which happened around 7:30 a.m. ET on Monday east of the village of Fauquier.

An OPP spokesperson said two pickup trucks collided head-on. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another person was transported to a local hospital by paramedics. 

Highway 11 is closed between Kapuskasing and Smooth Rock Falls. The closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period, police said.
