Saskatoon police say thieves broke into the Farnam Block demolition site this weekend.

They stole power tools from the company taking the building down, as well as steel signs from the former Lydia's Pub.

It's not known how much money the power tools are valued at.

The Lydia's signs were being preserved for the Saskatoon Heritage Society.

It appears the theft happened on Sunday, before the building was torn down.

The building's new owners bought the property in December. They had originally considered renovating the building, but decided repairing the Farnam Block would be too expensive.

A group of local investors attempted a last ditch effort to buy the building and preserve the building, but a deal could not be reached.
