Many P.E.I. businesses and services will be closed on New Year's Day

Many P.E.I. businesses and services will be closed on New Year's Day, after being open for reduced hours on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

It's always best to call ahead if you are heading out on an errand, but here is a partial list of what's open and closed on the Island this New Year's Eve and Jan. 1.

Services 

• All federal, provincial and municipal government offices, including all Access P.E.I. locations, are closed on New Year's Day.
• Canada Post offices are closed, and there will be no mail delivery or collection on New Year's Day.
• Island Waste Management Corporation's customer service centre and Charlottetown office, as well as all waste watch drop-off centres across the province, are closed on New Year's Day.
• All Service Canada locations are closed on New Year's Day.
• T3 Transit does not operate on New Year's Day. 
• All P.E.I. Public Library locations are closed on New Year's Day, after staying open until 5 p.m. on Dec. 31.
• Offices of the Courts Administration Service and of the Registry of the Federal Court of Appeal, Federal Court, Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and Tax Court of Canada will be closed on New Year's Day.

Shopping and groceries

• Sobeys stores are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day. 
• Foodland in Charlottetown is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day. 
• Atlantic Superstores are open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day.
• Your Independent Grocer stores in Kensington, Alberton and Cornwall are closed on New Year's Day.
• All P.E.I. Liquor Control Commission and P.E.I. Cannabis stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day. 
• Royalty Crossing mall is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day.
• Confederation Court Mall is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day. 
• Walmart stores in Charlottetown and Summerside are closed on New Year's Day.
• Giant Tiger stores in Charlottetown and Summerside are open from noon to 5 p.m. on Jan. 31 and closed on New Year's Day.
• Shopper's Drug Mart stores and pharmacies will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Day. 

Pharmacies 

• Central Street Pharmacy in Summerside, Kensington Pharmacy in Kensington, Rustico Pharmacy in North Rustico, Tyne Valley Pharmacy in Tyne Valley, Wellington Pharmacy in Wellington and Stratford Pharmacy in Stratford are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 but closed on New Year's Day. 
• Cornwall Pharmacy in Cornwall is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and from noon to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• East Royal Pharmacy in Charlottetown is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day.
• Kinlock Pharmacy in Stratford is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and from noon to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• Morell Pharmacy in Morell is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 and closed on New Year's Day. 
• Parkdale Pharmacy in Charlottetown is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day. Home Health Care at this location is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 31 and closed on New Year's Day. 
• Queen Street Pharmacy in Charlottetown is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and from noon to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day. 
• West Royalty Pharmacy in Charlottetown is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and from noon to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• Lawton's Drugs in Summerside is open from noon to 5 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• Lawton's Drugs on St. Peter's Road in Charlottetown is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on New Year's Day.
