A youth worker at Bluefield High School pleaded guilty on Friday to several sex and drug charges.

Arthur Francis McGuigan, 59, of Charlottetown pleaded guilty to one count of luring a child using a computer and two counts of sexual exploitation of a young person between the ages of 14 and 18.

The victim was a female student under the age of 18.

McGuigan also pleaded guilty to one count of trafficking methamphetamine, following an incident last summer.

In exchange for McGuigan's guilty pleas, Crown prosecutors withdrew two child pornography charges and other drug charges.

The school board placed McGuigan on leave when the charges were first laid last year. On Friday, the English Language School Board declined to comment on McGuigan's employment status.

McGuigan will be back in the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island in October for sentencing.

He faces a minimum sentence of two years.
