Treize the dog dies 10 days after being found malnourished in west Quebec
Outaouais SPCA says this was one of worst cases of emaciation it has seen in 10 years
The Outaouais SPCA says Treize the dog, found severely malnourished in the Pontiac on Nov. 13, died Monday evening.
Treize had been found wandering Route 303 the previous Friday morning and was severely dehydrated with its muscles wasting away, the SPCA said at the time.
It named him "Treize" because he was found on Friday the 13th and he was lucky to be alive.
The SPCA had called this one of the worst cases of emaciation it had seen in a decade but the dog was expected to survive with a lot of medical help.
It announced Treize had died in a Facebook post on Monday evening.
"Your passage among us has not been in vain, it has enabled hundreds of others to have the second chance you have not had," the post said.
"Your story will remain etched in our memories and when we will meet your eyes on our pictures, we will remember that for which we fight every day."
The SPCA said an autopsy will be done to determine his exact cause of death. He'll then be cremated and his ashes and picture kept at its shelter.
