Snowmobiler dies after hitting tree in the Outaouais

A man in his 60s was riding his snowmobile in Low, Que., on Saturday when he veered off the trail and crashed into the tree, provincial police told Radio-Canada.

A man in his 60s is dead after his snowmobile collided with a tree in Low, Que., on Saturday, provincial police say.

Police were called to a trail in the western Quebec community at around 10:30 a.m., a Sûreté du Québec spokesperson told Radio-Canada.

The snowmobiler had veered off of the trail, struck the tree and was thrown from his vehicle, police said.

He was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries where he was declared dead.

Police say they continue to investigate. Low is roughly 60 kilometres north of downtown Ottawa.
