Door-to-door mail delivery ends in 2016 for Alta Vista, Blackburn Hamlet
Residents with postal codes K1B, K1G and K1H will move to community mailboxes next year
The next wave of door-to-door mail delivery will hit 15,676 addresses in Ottawa's Alta Vista, Blackburn Hamlet and Pleasant Park neighbourhoods in 2016, Canada Post has announced.
Residents of homes featuring the postal codes K1B, K1G and K1H will learn of the change in the next few days, according to a news release.
The areas stretch as far west as Hog's Back and Vincent Massey parks, south to Walkley and Hunt Club roads, north to Highway 417 and east to St. Laurent Boulevard.
The affected employees and city councillors were notified of the change on Thursday.
Canada Post's five-year plan will change one third of Canadian addresses to community mailboxes. Canada Post said one million addresses no longer have door-to-door mail delivery or are in the process of changing over.
Neighbourhoods in Kanata featuring the postal codes K2K, K2L and K2M, plus Barrhaven neighbourhoods in the K2J postal code began using the community mailboxes earlier this year.
In the fall, residents living with postal codes K1T, K1V, K1Z, K2C, K2E, K2G and K2H will change to community mailboxes.
