The next wave of Ottawa neighbourhoods to lose door-to-door mail service in 2015 includes west of the downtown like Westboro, Carlington, Bel Air Heights and Bells Corners and south end neighbourhoods like Herongate and Greenboro.

Canada Post announced Wednesday community mailboxes will be coming to seven more Ottawa postal codes in the fall of 2015:

  • K1T (Blossom Park/Greenboro/Leitrim).
  • K1V (including Herongate, South Keys).
  • K1Z (Westboro, Carlington).
  • K2C (Bel Air Heights area).
  • K2E (Fisher Heights).
  • K2G (Davidson Heights).
  • K2H (Bells Corners/Arlington Woods).

The change will apply to some 46,710 home and business addresses, Canada Post says.

Neighbourhoods in Kanata (K2K, K2L and K2M postal codes) have already converted to community boxes, and in Barrhaven (K2J) work is expected to start in early 2015.

Canada Post spokesman Phil Legault said in a statement people living at these addresses should receive information in the mail within the next couple of days.

"The package will tell them how they can express their priorities and preferences about their new delivery method. This is a process we are currently using with our 2014 conversion process and it has provided very useful insights and facilitated our planning with the city planning department to help us choose safe, suitable locations," he said in a statement.

Legualt notes no full-time or part-time worker will lose their job as a result of the initiative, and said the company plans on reducing its workforce through attrition.
