The Yukon Coroner's Service is investigating after a person died at the Whitehorse jail on Monday. 

Chief Coroner Heather Jones and Yukon justice department spokesperson Francis Lefebvre separately confirmed via email that a death occurred at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre on Dec. 23. 

However, both declined to provide any further details, citing the ongoing investigation. 

The Yukon RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
