CBC North celebrates North of North with its premiere in Iqaluit
Show is set to be released Jan. 7 on CBC Gem
On Dec. 16, there was a community screening of the co-produced CBC, APTN and Netflix show North of North at the Astro Theatre in Iqaluit. The first two episodes of the show premiered to a packed theatre. This new comedy series was filmed in Iqaluit and follows the story of a young Inuk woman as she redefines herself.
The sold-out shows were full of excitement. In the audience were the show co-creators, Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, and many of the stars from the show, including Anna Lambe, Maika Harper, Keira Cooper, and Zorga Qaunaq. Viewings were so packed that we arranged an additional screening for Dec. 17.
As a part of CBC North's Make the Season Kind campaign, Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre set up a table to talk about their programs and share some country food with attendees. Food really does bring people together!
Keep an eye out Jan. 7 for the release of this amazing show on CBC Gem.
