7 in custody following police raid on Mundy Pond Road residence in St. John's
It's the second time this week the RNC tactical unit has raided a St. John's building
Seven people are in custody following a raid on a home on Mundy Pond Road in St. John's on Saturday.
Police cars and and an armoured tactical vehicle blocked the street in front of a house early in the morning. Damage to the building was visible, including a broken door and shattered glass.
Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers in tactical gear had weapons drawn and pointed at a house, asking neighbours to stay in their homes.
There are few details as of yet, but RNC Constable James Cadigan said the raid was the result of a search warrant executed following a lengthy investigation. This included suspicions regarding a number of weapons offences, as well as possession of stolen property on the premises.
No injuries were reported in the action. The investigation is ongoing.
The incident comes just two days after police raided a home on Cashin Avenue in St. John's, arresting two people and resulting in a combined 130 charges involving drug trafficking and weapons possession.
