One dead following single-vehicle crash near South Brook in central Newfoundland
A 75-year-old man died at the scene
Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 75-year-old man on Friday morning along the Trans-Canada Highway near South Brook in central Newfoundland.
In a news release, the RCMP said it received report of the crash — about 25 kilometres south of Springdale — around 10 a.m. NT on Friday.
The RCMP says officers found a truck that was on its side after going over an embankment.
Three passengers were outside of the truck, the RCMP said, and two others were still inside, including the driver.
"Officers assisted with the removal of the driver from the vehicle and performed CPR on the remaining vehicle occupant, who died at the scene," the RCMP said Monday.
"Road and weather conditions were reported as being poor with reduced visibility and slippery roads at the time of the crash."
The RCMP says it's still investigating and a collision reconstructionist was called to the scene. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is also involved.
