CBC Feed N.L. Day: $59K raised and counting
Ryan Snoddon wrapped gifts all day long at the Avalon Mall
Gifts were wrapped, vans were filled, and a haul was taken for CBC Newfoundland and Labrador's annual food and donation drive.
CBC NL's Feed N.L. Day has raised about $59,000 for the Community Food Sharing Association. The money will be funneled back to food banks around the province.
"It's just been a five-star day," said Eg Walters, general manager of the Community Food Sharing Association. "Absolutely fantastic."
"The nonperishable food items that were collected, not only here, but throughout the whole province in the dominion stores, [and] the donations that were made at the Royal Bank of Canada branches are certainly signficant."
CBC NL hosted an all-day drop off Dec. 9 at our St. John's studio on University Avenue, from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Our Corner Brook, Gander and Happy Valley-Goose Bay locations took donations in the morning, as well.
The action included a wrapping centre at the Avalon Mall in St. John's, with CBC Meteorologist Ryan Snoddon.

Walters said after the food drive, stocks at the Community Food Sharing Association were "looking certainly a lot brighter."
Money is still rolling in, and donations can be still be made online until Jan. 6.
