Daffodil Place request rejected for 2nd time at council
St. John's city council has rejected a motion to donate $5,000 to the Daffodil Place cancer care hospice, again.
St. John's city council has rejected a motion to donate $5,000 to the Daffodil Place cancer care hospice, again.
Last month, council turned down the proposal to give money to Daffodil Place for air conditioners, washers and dryers, and parking lot pavement.
Councillors said the request did not meet city policy.
Daffodil Place offers accommodations in St. John's to out-of-town patients who must travel for their treatments.
Coun. Art Puddister re-submitted the motion at Monday evening's meeting, with a letter asking the city to reconsider.
However, other councillors rejected the proposal again.
Many councillors argued if they make an exception for Daffodil Place, they'll be inundated with requests from other organizations to do the same for them.
