Bay de Verde's ace of spades evades capture another week
Deck down to 3 cards for next week's draw
And then there were three. Bay de Verde's six-figure Chase the Ace jackpot eluded the swarm of hopeful ticket holders that descended on the town Wednesday evening.
Thousands showed up for a chance to nab the ace of spades and not the three remaining decoys: the three of clubs, and the jack and king of hearts.

As of Tuesday night, Wednesday evening's jackpot was expected to be more than $317,000, while next week's is reportedly estimated to top half a million dollars. Wednesday's consolation prize was about $70,000, while the 50/50 prize was about $43,000.
Proceeds from the lottery will go to the Roman Catholic Assumption Parish.
