Conception Bay North town in running for NHL preseason game, arena upgrade
Bay Roberts wants to be Canada's next Hockeyville.
The Conception Bay North town was named one of 10 finalists Saturday night for the National Hockey League's annual Kraft Hockeyville competition. The grand prize winner will host an NHL preseason game and win $100,000 for arena upgrades.

The second-place community wins $100,000 in arena upgrades, while the other eight finalists will receive $25,000 apiece.
If Bay Roberts wins, the town plans to use the money to repair roof leaks and fire damage to the Bay Arena, used by more than 330 children registered in minor hockey.
The other East finalists are Cobden, Ont.; Collingwood, Ont.; Saint-Ambroise, Que.; and O'Leary, P.E.I.
The West finalists are Courtenay, B.C.; Maskwacis (Ermineskin), Alta.; Didsbury, Alta.; Ituna, Sask.; and Wilkie, Sask.
