2 people in critical condition after house fire in Fort Garry

Two people were taken to hospital in critical condition after a Fort Garry home was engulfed in flames late Friday night, Winnipeg's fire department says.

Two people were taken to hospital in critical condition after a Fort Garry home was engulfed in flames late Friday night.

Fire-paramedic crews were called around 11 p.m. to a fire at a two-storey house on Riverside Drive, east of Pembina Highway and south of Jubilee Avenue.

Firefighters attacked the flames from outside the house until they could get inside to search for residents, a Saturday news release from the city said.

Paramedics took two people to hospital in critical condition, the city said.

The fire was put out shortly after 1 a.m. Its cause is under investigation and no damage estimates for the home are available at this time, the city said.
