Londoner Thou Rom was 38-years-old
The man struck and killed while walking near Adelaide and Nelson streets on Saturday night was a husband and father of three girls, a relative says.
Thou Rom, 38, was at his nephew's house when he went out to buy a pack of cigarettes at a nearby convenience store. Just after 9:30 p.m., he was struck by a vehicle and died of his injuries in hospital.
"He is the kind of guy that would love to have fun with his family. He never bothered anybody," said Nat Chean, Rom's brother-in-law.
Rom was a Londoner who graduated from Beal secondary school and worked in construction, Chean said.
"He was trying to learn to play music," he said. "He's always smiling."
Rom leaves behind three sisters, a wife, three daughters and his mom. His girls are aged 17, 10, and 8.
Police say the driver didn't stay at the scene after Rom was struck, but that they've since recovered the vehicle that was involved, a silver 2022 Volkswagen Passat.
Investigators are still looking for the driver.
