London man charged with arson, attempted murder after allegedly setting car on fire

A 23-year-old London man is in police custody and facing charges of arson and attempted murder after allegedly setting fire to a couple's car in the city's east end on Wednesday.
A man and woman heard a loud noise outside their home on River Road, near Veterans Memorial Parkway, at around 11:30 p.m. and saw their vehicle on fire in the driveway, according to London police.
After the homeowners called 9-1-1, the man went outside and saw the suspect nearby, who was uttering threats toward them. He was arrested after emergency crews arrived. The man and the accused suffered minor injuries as a result of the fire.
London police said the accused and victims are known to each other.
The accused has been charged with attempting to commit murder, two counts of uttering threats of death or bodily harm, arson with disregard for human life, mischief over $5,000, and assault.
