Another blast of heavy snowfall is expected for the London area Thursday
A snow squall warning is in effect with up to 60 cm of snow, along with poor visibility
Londoners can get ready for another round of shovelling snow and possible bus cancellations on Thursday.
A snow squall warning is in effect from Environment Canada for London and the surrounding region, warning up to 60 cm of snow could fall in some areas starting after midnight.
The warning comes after two days of significant snowfall on Monday and Tuesday, leading to multiple collisions, as well as bus and school cancellations.
Environment Canada is forecasting the weather event to start after midnight and continue through Thursday night.
"In the wake of the cold front, several bands of snow squalls from Lake Huron will affect the region Thursday through Thursday night," the weather service said Wednesday afternoon. "Locally, higher snowfall amounts near 60 cm or more are possible, especially if a single strong snow squall locks in for a few hours or more beginning Thursday morning."
The forecast is calling for heavy snowfall accumulations of 25 to 50 cm, with peak snowfall rates of five to 10 cm per hour. The overnight low is expected to fall to -4 C.
Road conditions are expected to deteriorate, along with poor to zero visibility. Drivers are being cautioned to drive slowly, watch for tail lights and leave plenty of room.
Environment Canada is forecasting a mix of sun and cloud with a 60 per cent chance of flurries on Friday and a high of -3 C. Saturday will be partly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers and high of -1 C. Sunday should see a mix of sun and clouds and high of 4 C.
