Officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service are investigating reports of gunfire on a residential street in Cambridge, Ont., early Wednesday morning. Police say multiple people reported damage to their homes that was "consistent with shots fired."

Police are investigating a shooting in Cambridge after multiple people reported damage to their residences.

It happened near the area of Munch Avenue, between Hilldale Crescent and Harrson Drive.

Police arrived on the scene just before 8 a.m., but security camera footage from a residence obtained by CBC News reveals the sound of several shots being fired around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

"We are in the area conducting an investigation after someone reported damage to a residence that is consistent with gunshots being fired. There are no reports of anyone being injured," police spokesperson Cherri Greeno told CBC News.

Eleven shell casings could be seen along the street with evidence markers at each one.

There will be increased police presence in the area for most of the day, police said in a post on X. They are asking people to avoid the area.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the police or Crime Stoppers.
