Homicide unit investigating disappearance of Hamilton woman

Hamilton police's homicide unit is investigating the disappearance of a 40-year-old woman.

Shalini Singh's family reported her missing to police on Tuesday, says a media release.

The last time she was in contact with them was on Dec. 4, police say. She's not been heard from since.

"Information gathered by investigators has caused growing concern surrounding the circumstances of Shalini's disappearance," according to the media release police posted Thursday. 

"As a result, this investigation has now been assigned to the homicide unit."

Singh is described as five feet four inches tall and 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair. 

Police say they believe she doesn't have access to a vehicle.
