Police arrest man for murder of woman in Niagara Falls, Ont., home

A man has been charged with second-degree murder after Niagara police say they discovered a woman dead inside a home. 

The 41-year-old Niagara Falls, Ont., man was charged on Saturday, said the Niagara Regional Police Service in a news release. 

Officers went to the residence near Huron Street and St. Clair Avenue to check on the welfare of a resident at about 10:30 a.m., Dec. 28.

"When the arrived they found an adult female deceased within the home," police said. 

"Detectives have information to suggest that this was not a random act of violence." 

They have not made public the woman's age or how she died. 

Homicide detectives and the Forensic Services Unit are investigating. 

They're asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
