UPDATE: An autopsy has confirmed that Abdullah Shah's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said in a news release Friday.

EPS said detectives now believe that the medium-grey SUV they are seeking was travelling east on Heath Road at 9:06 p.m. before being parked in the location shown on the map, which is about 200 metres to the northeast of where Shah was shot and killed.

Police said investigators are looking for any dashcam or residential CCTV footage of the suspect vehicle driving in either direction on the Heath Road loop, including Riverbend Road between the two entrances to Heath Road, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on March 13.

The Edmonton Police Service is asking the public for help identifying a vehicle they say is connected to the shooting of landlord Abdullah Shah.

Shah, 59, was shot outside a home in the area of Heath Road and Riverbend Road around 10 p.m. Sunday, police said in a news release Monday.

EPS released CCTV video on Tuesday of what they say is a medium grey SUV pulling into a driveway.

EPS Det. Jared Buhler said the clip of the video police released was from "immediately before the shooting."

Police released a map showing the shooting scene and a separate location about 200 metres to the northeast where the grey SUV was parked in the hours before Shah was shot.

Buhler said police believe the occupant or occupants of the SUV were observing Shah's residence before the shooting his residence on Heath Road.

Police would not say how many or what weapons were used in the shooting.

"This was a brazen and targeted shooting in a residential area which placed the community at significant risk," Buhler said at a news conference Wednesday.

He said after the shooting the vehicle may have continued east on 23rd Avenue, north on Terwillegar Drive or south on Terwillegar Drive.

Police are asking anyone with video in the area of Riverbend Road and Terwillegar Drive that night between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

Shah, also known as Carmen Pervez, once said he owned about 100 properties across the city.

He had a criminal record going back to 1983, including drug and mortgage fraud convictions and has been the subject of numerous EPS investigations.

Police say they have identified the Toyota 4Runner mentioned in a previous news release, and do not require any more information about it.
