REPORT: Canada's newest renewable energy source: anxiety about US political climate

OTTAWA, ON—In the face of severe climate change, Canada has decided to increase its research into renewable energy resources. A report out today suggests that the current and most effective form of energy comes from harnessing the anxiety of Canadians worried about the American political climate.
The National Energy Board began experimenting with the process of grief-harnessing last year after the US primary elections. "We were looking for a cheap and effective source of energy. I realized how scared I was, and thought, if only I could use that. I actually got the idea from Monster's Inc," explains spokesperson Brad Yates.

The harnessing process is simple and non-invasive. A run-of-the-mill public grief extractor is used to isolate all negative feelings about the new US president (including, but not limited to feelings about his cabinet or family members, stance on immigration, women's rights, and/or LGBT rights, the thought of him wearing loose-fitting, acid washed jeans to a barbecue, etc). These feelings are compressed and processed into fuel capsules capable of burning for at least the next four terrifying years.
A patent has been filed for this process under the name "Sad Time Feelings Machine That Makes Power From The Bad Man." Admittedly, the NEB is not great at naming patents so the project has been dubbed "Trump Dumping" for short.
Many skeptics have spoken out about this process, claiming that by burning our anxiety we will become complacent and possibly happy with the current situation. However, Yates assures us that "...this is a bottomless source. The president's first horrifying week in office has increased production exponentially and ensured that Canadians will be able to stockpile enough enhanced worry cubes for generations to come."
This is a brand new direction for Canada, whose past energy consumption was based heavily on oil production. The country can now see light at the end of the tunnel and will continue to move forward, showing itself to be a true world leader in clean burning fuel.
*EDIT: Since the writing of this article, Canada has been prohibited from advancing this or any other clean energy source by the US government. In addition to these restrictions, all power must now be generated exclusively by coal, like we live in a Charles Dickens novel, and all citizens must take daily baths in crude oil.
