Swiss skier Daniel Albrecht will skip the men's giant slalom race at Val d'Isere, France, on Saturday as he makes a steady return to World Cup racing after his horrific crash.

Switzerland's ski federation says Albrecht's coaches want him to spend more time training following his comeback race last Sunday at Beaver Creek, Colorado.

Albrecht placed 21st in the GS, more than 22 months after a fall in downhill training at Kitzbuehel, Austria, left him in a medically induced coma with brain and lung injuries.

Swiss Ski says the 27-year-old Albrecht should return for the GS race on Dec. 19 at Alta Badia, Italy.
