Goergl wins downhill at Bad Kleinkirchheim

Elisabeth Goergl of Austria won the third women's World Cup downhill of the season on Saturday. The downhill world champion finished the 2.85-kilometre Kaernten-Franz Klammer course in 1 minute, 48.40 seconds to beat Julia Mancuso of the United States by 0.16.

Elisabeth Goergl of Austria won the third women's World Cup downhill of the season on Saturday at Bad Kleinkirchheim. 

The downhill world champion finished the 2.85-kilometre Kaernten-Franz Klammer course in 1 minute, 48.40 seconds to beat Julia Mancuso of the United States by 0.16 of a second. Fabienne Suter of Switzerland came 0.50 behind in third.

Overall World Cup leader Lindsey Vonn of the United States, who won both previous downhills, almost skied out at the second gate and finished fourth, 0.55 behind Goergl.

There were no Canadians in the event.
