Kristina Valjas and Jamie Broder will face off against Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley in the round of 16 after a draw on Wednesday.

Pavan and Bansley defeated Germans Britta Buthe and Karla Borger in straight sets (21-19, 21-15) to finish the preliminary round atop Pool E, while Valjas and Broder finished second in Pool D after beating Egyptians Doaa Elghobashy and Nada Meawad.

Schalk, Saxton advance

Canada's Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton won their lucky loser playoff against Poland's Grzegorz  and Mariusz Prudel on Thursday to advance to the Round of 16 as well.

Schalk and Saxton lost their final preliminary match to Cuba, but were helped out by Brazil, who beat Latvia to give the Canadians third place in Pool D and another chance to move on.

They took full advantage, beating the Polish side in straight sets (21-19, 21-18) and closing the match with an ace.

They'll take on Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands for a chance to play in the quarter-finals.
