Canadians Josh Binstock and Samuel Schachter were eliminated from the beach volleyball competition at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday after falling in three sets to Austrians Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst.

The loss puts the Canadian pair in the bottom of Pool A at the conclusion of the preliminary round.

Canada looked to be in control of the first set up 18-15 before the Austrians won six of the next seven points to take a 1-0 lead.

The Canadian side responded well in the second set, winning 21-16 to even the match. However, they couldn't carry that momentum into the final frame.

Doppler and Horst jumped out to a 9-4 lead and cruised from there, earning themselves the lucky loser spot in Pool A with a 15-8 third set win.
