Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel could be hearing from the NHL Department of Player Safety after a brutal looking cross-check to the throat of Boston Bruins defenceman Adam McQuaid.

Less than four minutes into Tuesday night's game, Roussel took exception to a hit from McQuaid. Instead of dropping his gloves, Roussel raised his stick towards McQuaid's face in retaliation.

The 25-year-old native of France received a five-minute major and a game misconduct. He has a history of questionable play, as he was fined $5,376 US in November for a sucker punch to San Jose Sharks' Justin Braun.

McQuaid continued the game, and the Stars managed to score a short-handed goal with Brett Ritchie serving the major in Roussel's place. Dallas won the game 5-3 to split the season series.
