Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel was fined the maximum $5,376.34 US by the NHL on Monday for punching an unsuspecting player.

With a little more than a minute remaining in the Stars' 5-3 home loss to San Jose on Saturday, Roussel knocked over Sharks goalie Alex Stalock as he tried to clear the puck. That started a scuffle, during which Roussel punched San Jose's Justin Braun while a linesman was trying to separate them.

Roussel received a 10-minute misconduct penalty.

Roussel, 24, has four goals, four assists and 43 penalty minutes in 18 games this season.
