Riders sign receiver Grice-Mullen

Ryan Grice-Mullen has returned to the CFL, this time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Ryan Grice-Mullen has returned to the CFL, this time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The CFL club announced the signing of the wide receiver/kick returner to its practice roster. The 24-year-old had tried without success to latch on with the Miami Dolphins this summer.

Grice-Mullen had 29 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns in 18 games with the B.C. Lions in his first CFL stint. He also averaged 23 yards per kickoff return and 9.6 on punts.

The Riders host Calgary on Friday.

Saskatchewan shed an experienced receiver on Tuesday, releasing Prechae Rodriguez, and placed kick returner Dominique Dorsey on the nine-game injured list.

Grice-Mullen was one of a number of 2009 Lions who headed south to look for work, but among that groups B.C. has only retained fullback/special teams player Rolly Lumbala.

Ricky Foley decided to choose the Toronto Argonauts on Tuesday, surprising the Lions, who thought they had the inside track. Running back Martell Mallett is still in the NFL, on the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles.
