San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick continued his anthem protest on Monday night by kneeling during the Star-Spangled Banner.

Kaepernick has refused to stand for the anthem all season in protest of police brutality and racial oppression in the United States.

He was joined by teammate Eric Reid in the team's season opener at home against the Los Angeles Rams.

Immediately after the anthem was finished, Kaepernick was embraced by multiple teammates.

ESPN's Lindsay Czarniak reported that some fans yelled at Kaepernick, saying "Why don't you stand up?"

Rams players Robert Quinn and Kenny Britt, along with some 49ers, were seen holding up a fist, which a number of NFL players have adopted as protest, mirroring the 1968 Olympic demonstration by Americans Tommie Smith and John Carlos.
