Eskimos cut grandson of Hall of Fame QB Lancaster
The Edmonton Eskimos have cut the grandson of Canadian Football Hall of Fame quarterback Ron Lancaster.
The club announced Monday it had released non-import QB Marc Mueller. The team signed the former University of Regina star in May.
Mueller, a Regina native, completed all three of his passes for 45 yards in Saturday's 23-22 road loss to Saskatchewan.
Mueller threw for 2,437 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions last season for the Rams. He set the school's single-season record in 2009 with 310 passing attempts and a post-season record with 470 yards passing.
Mueller was one of two quarterbacks to throw at the CFL combine this spring. The other was Brad Sinopli from the University of Ottawa, who was taken in the fourth round by the Calgary Stampeders.
The Eskimos also released defensive back CJ Bailey, defensive lineman Walter Curry and wide receiver Jonathan Holland.
