Argonauts re-sign receiver P.K. Sam

The Toronto Argonauts reportedly weren't interested in re-signing veteran receiver P.K. Sam, but the two sides came to agreement prior to the start of CFL free agency at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

Adam Rita apparently had a change of heart when it came to P.K. Sam.

The Toronto Argonauts general manager reportedly wasn't interested in re-signing the veteran receiver, but came to agreement with Sam prior to the start of CFL free agency at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

Sam, 26, has spent the past two seasons with Toronto, appearing in 15 regular-season games and catching 63 passes for 884 yards and five touchdowns.

Also Tuesday, the Argos re-acquired cornerback Byron Parker and offensive lineman Cedric Gagne-Marcoux, who played three seasons and 31 games with Hamilton.

An unhappy Parker, 28, was traded to Edmonton last September after seeing limited playing time under former Toronto head coach Bart Andrus.

This marks the two-time CFL all-star's fourth stint with the Argonauts, who posted a 3-15 record last season and replaced the fired Andrus with Jim Barker.

Parker, an athletic coverman, spent the first four of his five CFL seasons in Toronto, where he recorded the bulk of his 21 interceptions.

Gagne-Marcoux would add depth to an Argos offensive line that struggled in 2009, finishing last in the eight-team league in yards rushing (82.5 per game) and quarterback sacks allowed (55).

Elsewhere, the Saskatchewan Roughriders re-signed long-snapper Jocelyn Frenette.
