Stingers remain undefeated with win over Rattlers, hold onto CEBL's top spot
Nighthawks log 1st win of season in nail-biting finish against BlackJacks
The Edmonton Stingers downed the Saskatchewan Rattlers 87-70 to extend their win streak to six games and hold onto the top spot in the CEBL standings on Monday.
Jordan Baker of Edmonton, Alta., finished with a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds for the Stingers, and Calgary native Mathieu Kamba came through with another 18 points of his own. Kamba also led all players with four three-pointers.
In the end, Mississauga, Ont., native Devonte Bandoo's team-high 17 points just weren't enough for the Rattlers, as the Stingers reached the target score of 86 after entering the Elam Ending with a 77-58 lead.
Bandoo also reeled in 10 rebounds and registered four steals. Travis Daniels was second on the Rattlers with 15 points, seven rebounds.
Edmonton proved more consistent throughout the game, registering 46 per cent from the field.
The Stingers will look to maintain their perfect record on Thursday when they visit the Honey Badgers (6-1) in Hamilton. Both teams will be coming in with the momentum of a six-game win streak.
Meanwhile, Saskatchewan searches for their first win of the season on Friday against the Guelph Nighthawks (1-4).

Nighthawks log 1st win of season against BlackJacks
Guelph's Cat Barber hit his second of two free throws to secure the Nighthawks' first win of the 2021 CEBL season on Monday night with a 90-87 victory over the Ottawa BlackJacks.
Kimbal Mackenzie of Oakville, Ont., and Chad Brown pitched in for a combined 25, with Brown also collecting a team-high 10 rebounds.
The BlackJacks held the lead throughout the second and third quarters with Nick Ward stepping up and logging a team-high 20 points, but the team couldn't hang on in the fourth and fell short of their first road win of the season.

Guelph's TJ Lall, Mackenzie and Barber each nailed a crucial three-pointer in the final minutes to set up Barber for his Elam Ending free throw.
Ward led all players in rebounds with 13, while Toronto's Junior Cadougan was second on the BlackJacks in scoring with 14 points.
The Nighthawks shot 40 per cent from the 3-point line while Ottawa only registered 29 per cent.
Guelph will next face the Fraser Valley Bandits (4-2) this Wednesday, while Ottawa will take on the undefeated Edmonton Stingers (5-0) on Saturday.
