Filmmaker Ken Burns aims to prove country music is for everyone in new documentary
Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns has chronicled the history of America from the Civil War to baseball. Now he's exploring the early history of country music in his latest documentary series, Country Music, which traces the genre's origins in minstrel music, ballads, hymns and the blues, right through to the early '90s.
He joins q's Tom Power to share highlights from some of the 100 interviews he conducted with country music stars and historians, and how he quickly became a country music fan himself in the process.
The first chapter of the eight-part film premieres this Sunday on PBS.
