Merce Cunningham is a legend of modern dance who for decades reimagined what the art form could be — the look, the sound, the feel. During his career he choreographed almost 200 dance pieces, and worked with arts icons including John Cage, Andy Warhol, Ralph Rauschenberg, Sonic Youth and many others. Director Alla Kovgan joins q from New York to tell us all about it.
