Elvis Costello draws back the curtain in new memoir

Elvis Costello's musical career has spanned more than four decades and crossed several genres. He's collaborated with everyone from George Jones to The Roots to Burt Bacharach, and was named among Rolling Stone's 25 greatest songwriters of all time. 

Today the prolific musician joins Shad to discuss his new memoir, Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink, and his suitcase full of formative memories.

Costello also takes us back to a 1979 confrontation during which he used a racial slur in reference to Ray Charles and James Brown. He explains why it was important to include the incident in his memoir, what he was thinking then, and how he's handled the fallout since.
