Remembering Marni Nixon, Hollywood's 'invisible voice'
You may not know her name, but you almost certainly know her voice. Marni Nixon, once one of Hollywood's most sought-after singers, died Sunday.
You may not know her name, but you almost certainly know her voice.
Marni Nixon, once one of Hollywood's most sought-after singers, died Sunday at the age of 86. The talented vocalist lent her pipes to some of her generation's greatest stars, including Audrey Hepburn, Deborah Kerr, Natalie Wood and Marilyn Monroe.
She also made sure she was heard behind the scenes, fighting for on-screen credit and royalties at a time when neither were offered to voice dubbing performers.
Today Stephen Cole, a friend of Nixon's and the co-author of her biography I Could Have Sung All Night, joins guest host Rachel Giese to pay tribute to the woman known as "the ghostess with the mostest."
