The New Pornographers return to Studio Q with their new, critically acclaimed record Brill Bruisers. The synth-infused record is widely being called one of the group's finest albums.

Carl Newman and John Collins join Jian to discuss what jelled this time around, and how the band continues breaking new ground as a group, while several members also pursue successful solo careers.

The normally self-effacing bandmates say they're pretty pleased with their latest record and its title track, Brill Bruisers -- an "anthem about anthems".

"It's weird to listen to a record and say, yep, this record rules," says Newman.

This isn't the first time we've had the pleasure of hosting the talented Vancouver band. Here are a couple gems from the Q vault, featuring Neko Case and Dan Bejar.
