Rudderless: William H. Macy on his directorial debut

Rudderless tells the story of a father coping with the death of his son.

After success on stage and screens big and small, William H. Macy is broadening his horizons once again.

The actor makes his directorial debut with Rudderless, a feature film starring Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Laurence Fishburne, Felicity Huffman and Selena Gomez.

"Branching out into directing and doing a TV series (both are brand new for me) has really rejuvenated me," the Shameless star tells Piya.

"I've fallen in love with this business all over again."

Macy's film tells the story of Sam, a father coping with the death of his son following a tragic school shooting. While struggling with the grieving process, Sam (Billy Crudup) discovers that his late son was a talented songwriter -- one who left behind a trove of written work just waiting to be performed.
