Marlon Wayans says he's 'out of love' with parody

Actor and filmmaker Marlon Wayans says stand-up gave him a new perspective on comedy. And he may be done with parodies like 50 Shades of Black.

When you think of Marlon Wayans, you may think of wacky parody films like Scary Movie and 50 Shades of Black — but the youngest member of the comedic Wayans family says he's fallen "out of love" with the genre. 

The actor and filmmaker joins Shad to discuss what's next, and how stand-up gave him fresh insight on "animating" comedy.

Wayans says he first took the mic to channel comedy legend Richard Pryor. while vying to play him in a film. He didn't get the part, but he fell in love with the stage. 

"I started out wanting to play a great. Now I want to be a great," he says. "In stand up, the audience gives you a reaction right away ... you got one shot."
